SUSTAINABILITY AT THE FAIR

In support of the Vision ’33 Sustainability Pledge and our school theme “A Year to Grow”, we are working hard to reduce the environmental impact of our upcoming Fair. We are excited to share with you some highlights of our green initiatives. Please SUPPORT A GREENER CIS FAIR!
BYO – Bring Your Own
In addition to BYO bags and tableware, we would love you to BYO CUP!
We will not be selling any single-use plastic beverage bottles, nor providing any single-use beverage cups. Anyone who brings their own cup will receive 5 Prize Stamps (to redeem for prizes at the Fair) with any purchase of beer, lemonade, or bubble tea! If you need to borrow one, there will be reusable cups available with a $10 deposit charge. The deposit is refundable upon return of the cup wherever you see this symbol:
DITO & Green Team Fair Projects: Call for Materials
Our student sustainability groups, DITO and Green Team, are preparing some exciting activities for the Fair: a community art project at the Makerspace(@Reception classrooms) and also a free activity at the Farm where you can take your creation home.
But first, they are in need of materials! Please collect your bottle tops, wine corks, glass jars (washed and labels removed - no wine bottles please) and paper food delivery bags with handles (e.g., Deliveroo bags) and drop them off at the New Tower Reception or Primary Office this month.
Call for Second-hand Books & Uniforms
Our popular pre-loved Book & Uniform sales will be back at the Fair and we are accepting donations now! Second-hand books: accepting adult and children’s books, graphic novels, CDs and DVDs in good condition. Please note that we do not take magazines, music books or used exercise books. Unsold items will be donated to charity. Drop off your donations at the New Tower Reception, 1 February to 28 February.
Composting / Recycling
Did you know that 30% - that’s about 3,300 tonnes - of Hong Kong’s daily solid waste is food waste? By separating compostable food waste and recycling, we can all move our city towards a greener future. There will be 5 recycling stations at the Fair. Year 5 and 6 Eco Stewards will be on site to help fair goers sort and recycle correctly. All our cutlery, containers, straws, napkins and bake sale packaging are compostable and should be disposed of in the food waste bins, which will then be taken away for proper composting.
Shuttle Bus and Public Transportation
There will be no on-site parking, and Hau Yuen Path will be closed to private vehicles from 9:30am to 6pm. Take advantage of our free shuttle bus (the “Tin Hau Express”), help save the environment AND also get 10 Prize stamps! Buses will run every 15 minutes from 9:45am to 12:45pm from Tin Hau MTR. Go Green… and Yellow!
In keeping with our school theme A Year To Grow, and in an effort to be more sustainable, we have decided not to create a Fair t-shirt this year. Instead, let’s come together as a community by wearing GREEN & YELLOW to the Fair!

為了支持「願景33」的可持續發展承諾和我們的校園主題「穩健成長」，我們正努力減少本屆嘉年華對環境的影響。我們非常高興能在此與您分享我們環保措施的一些亮點。
請支持一個更加綠色環保的漢基嘉年華！
BYO——自備物品
除了自備購物袋和餐具，我們也希望您能自備水杯。我們不會銷售一次性塑膠飲料瓶或提供一次性塑膠杯。任何購買啤酒、檸檬水或珍珠奶茶並自備水杯者將獲得5枚獎品印章（可兌換嘉年華獎品）。您也可租用可重複使用的水杯，押金10元並可於您返還水杯至以下標誌處時退還：
如果您忘記攜帶水杯，也可挑選一款新的漢基品牌的MiiR保溫杯或隨行杯。您可於此處購買。
DITO 和 Green Team 的嘉年華項目：材料徵集
我們的可持續發展學生團體——DITO和Green Team——正在為嘉年華籌備一些激動人心的活動：在Makerspace（@學前班教室）裡舉行一項社群藝術項目，以及在農場舉辦一場免費活動，參與者可將作品帶回家。
但首先，他們需要製作材料！
請您收集瓶蓋、酒瓶塞、玻璃罐（清洗乾淨並去除標籤，請勿收集酒瓶）和帶把手的紙質外賣食品袋（如 Deliveroo外賣紙袋），並於本月將這些物品送至新大樓接待處或小學部辦公室。
徵集二手書籍和校服
我們備受歡迎的二手書籍和校服售賣活動將於嘉年華中回歸！我們現在開始接受捐贈。
二手書籍：接受狀況良好的二手成人和兒童書籍、圖像小說、CD和DVD。請注意，我們不接受雜誌、音樂書或使用過的練習冊。未售出的物品我們將捐贈給慈善機構。您可於2月1日起將捐贈品送至新大樓接待處。
堆肥/回收
您知道香港每天產生的固體垃圾中有30%（約3300噸）是廚餘垃圾嗎？通過分離可用於堆肥的廚餘垃圾和回收利用，我們可以令這座城市走向更加綠色的未來。嘉年華會場設有5個垃圾回收站。五年級和六年級的Eco Stewards將在現場幫助大家正確分類和回收。我們所有的餐具、容器、吸管、餐巾紙和烘培食品的包裝都可用於堆肥，並應該丟棄在廚餘垃圾箱中。之後，我們會將這些垃圾帶走用於堆肥。
穿梭巴士和公共交通
嘉年華會場將不設停車服務。校園徑將於上午9:30至下午6:00對私家車關閉。請使用我們的免費穿梭巴士（「天后快線」），為環保出力並賺取10枚獎品印章！巴士於上午9:45至下午12:45每十五分鐘一班，由天后地鐵站開出。最後一班巴士將於下午4:30由漢基開出。請點擊此處查看完整的巴士時刻表。

為了與我們的校園主題「穩健成長」保持一致，也為了更可持續性努力，我們決定今年不製作嘉年華T恤。讓我們一同穿上綠色和黃色的衣服，作為一個社群集體，一同來參加嘉年華吧！
